Christmas Lights in Zurich
Zurich will shine in festive splendor when the Christmas lights are switched on for the first time at 6pm on November 21, 2024. Until January 6, 2025, the illuminations at Bahnhofstrasse, Neumarkt and Paradeplatz will transform the city into a sparkling winter wonderland.
Lucy, Bahnhofstrasse
The switching on of “Lucy” is a firmly established tradition in Zurich and heralds the start of the Advent season. On the last but one Thursday in November, countless people gather to see the 11,550 light crystals shine out for the first time, spread over a distance of one kilometer.
Rennweg
If you turn off Bahnhofstrasse into Rennweg, you will find yourself immersed in a wonderfully peaceful world. Here the lights seem to fall from the sky like snow.
Neumarkt
A particularly enchanting atmosphere envelops the winding alleyways around Neumarkt. Pretty little colored lights sparkle and shine on the adjoining Rindermarkt, as well as along Spiegelgasse, Predigergasse, Froschaugasse, and Brunngasse.
Löwenplatz
It is worth taking a close look at the Christmas stars at Löwenplatz – they are all made from recycled PET bottles. Twenty-seven of these PET stars use as much electricity as a 60-watt light bulb.
Paradeplatz
The renowned financial center, too, takes on a festival look at Christmas. The façade of the Credit Suisse shines in warm orange & red hues and a large Christmas tree greets passers-by.
