Zurich City Council has set itself the goal of ensuring that all visitors can discover and enjoy the city without encountering barriers. In order to promote diversity and inclusion in the city, as many things as possible should be accessible to everyone – from public transportation to hotels and restaurants, right through to places of interest and various activities.

Public Transportation
The barrier-free use of public transportation is of key importance to transportation companies. Step-free vehicles are indicated on the digital departure display boards by means of a wheelchair symbol.
The SBB online timetable displays all accessible connections (train, bus, streetcar, boat, and cable car). In many cases, it is possible to board and alight independently or with the assistance of railway staff. For non-accessible connections, SBB offers an assistance service. This service can be booked at least one hour in advance via the SBB Contact Center Handicap.
The SBB Inclusive app provides visual, digital, and audio customer information from stations and long-distance trains directly on your smartphone. This makes traveling easier for people with visual or hearing impairments.
The ZVV offers a shuttle transportation service for stops with no step-free access and where ramps cannot be used for boarding and alighting. The shuttle service replaces the non-step-free part of the journey on public transportation and should be booked at least 2 hours in advanc

For people who travel by car and are dependent on a wheelchair, the website, rollstuhlparkplatz.ch, provides information on the number and exact location of public parking spaces for persons with disabilities.
Boat Trips
All vessels operated by the Lake Zurich Navigation Company (ZSG), with the exception of the River Limmat boats, are accessible by wheelchairs with a maximum width of 80 cm. This includes access to the saloons and outside areas on the main deck (2nd class). All the steam and motor vessels, except for the MS Bachtel and the River Limmat boats, include disabled passenger restrooms. Wheelchair access is possible at all landing stages with staff assistance.
