Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter

Zurich lies in the temperate climate zone and has four distinct seasons. In winter, temperatures occasionally drop below zero, while hot summer days can record temperatures of over 30° C (86° F).

The general rule of thumb is: Consult the short-term weather forecast and be prepared for all eventualities. 

Zurich is well worth a visit in all seasons of the year: in summer, the numerous riverside and lakeside swimming baths are particularly popular, while in winter, many winter sports resorts close to Zurich invite guests to ski, toboggan, or enjoy a winter hike.

Those who travel to Zurich in April can witness the traditional spring festival, “Sechseläuten”; meanwhile, in August, visitors can dance around the lake basin at the incomparable Street Parade. Food lovers come into their own in October, when they have the opportunity to sample the latest wines during a hike in the region around Lake Zurich. Anyone who finds themselves in Zurich in December can experience an enchanting festive season, with numerous Christmas markets, the “Märlitram” fairy tale tram, and various wonderful traditions.
