Atmospheric Steam Train Rides up Mt. Rigi
For special birthday celebrations or unforgettable group excursions: a historic trip up the "Queen of the Mountains".
The first mountain railway in Europe commenced operations in1871, carrying passengers from Vitznau up Mt. Rigi. To this day, visitors can still enjoy not only the magnificent mountain panorama on this spectacular route, but also the hissing and pounding of the Rigi Railways´ two mighty, almost 100-year-old steam trains. Some of the locomotives and carriages from the early years have been lovingly and expertly restored and are available for group trips or festive excursions.
The ascent is by steam train with historic carriages, while the descent is on board a regular scheduled train.
