Gottfried Keller Statue

You can still view a statue honoring Gottfried Keller, the most successful Swiss writer of the 19th century, at Mythenquai. His most famous works are the novels “Green Henry” and “The People of Seldwyla”.

After accepting a job as writer-in-residence for the canton of Zurich, his money worries disappeared and he gained prestige and recognition in the political arena. However, he had little time to write during his 10 years in office.
