Käpfnach Mine – a Former Lignite and Marl Mine
The tunnel train rattles its way through the disused Käpfnach Mine while providing visitors with insight into the arduous mining work.
The Käpfnach Mine offers visitors an exciting underground adventure. The Mining Museum, housed in a former coal bunker, provides further information with films, diagrams and exhibits relating to the centuries-old local coal-mining industry. Exhibited lamps, tools and fossils illustrate the production of coal and the hard work behind it.
The highlight of the visit is the 1.4km (0.9 miles) ride in the railway tunnel.
