Kunst Museum Winterthur – Reinhart am Stadtgarten
Oskar Reinhart came from a wealthy Winterthur family. He began to build up his art collection at an early age - and donated part of his collection to the town of Winterthur during his lifetime. These paintings are on display at the museum “Reinhart am Stadtgarten” and comprise around 600 works of art by German, Swiss and Austrian artists of the 18th to 20th centuries, including Ferdinand Hodler, Caspar David Friedrich and Carl Spitzweg.
The museum also shows paintings from the Jakob Briner Foundation, in particular landscapes, still lives and figure paintings by the Dutch masters of the 17th century. One special attraction are the miniature portraits, courtesy of a donation by Dr Emil S. Kern.
