Intermissions and the noise of crunching popcorn are to be found elsewhere. The Riffraff caters for real movie fans. But that is not the only reason why it enjoys such an excellent reputation. The movie theater is also housed in a time-honored building – silent films were screened here as early as in 1913. The Riffraff has existed in its present form since 1998 and is an important part of Zurich’s cultural scene.

As soon as you snuggle down in one of the generously sized seats, you will leave your everyday life well and truly behind you. The fact that there are no mid-film breaks or snacks to nibble on underscores the fact that here it is the movie itself that plays the leading role.

Before and after their visit to the movies, guests can enjoy a cool drink and tasty snacks at the movie theater’s own bar.
