In Rapperswil, the castle of the same name towers up on a rocky spur. From here, the panoramic views sweep over Lake Zurich, with its dam, as far as Mt. Säntis and the Glarus Alps. The trail then heads along the right shore of Lake Zurich past magnificent country mansions and expensive villas to Zurich. After the lakeside promenade, the route continues along the River Limmat, through the forests and meadows of the Zurich Hinterland, and on to Baden.
Awaiting cyclists at the end of this lengthy tour in Baden is a picturesque Old Town to explore and thermal baths to relax in.
