Lützelau Island – A Small Island in the Middle of Lake Zurich
Lützelau Island offers the ultimate outdoor experience. Only accessible by boat, between May and September the small campsite invites visitor to spend the night in the open air, while the public firepit becomes the center of cozy barbecue evenings.
The restaurant offers campsite and day guests freshly caught fish from Lake Zurich, while the bar provides refreshment in a summery beach atmosphere. On Thursday evenings, things liven up when the island is transformed into an open-air stage, featuring live music from local bands.
The name Lützelau is derived from the Old High German term for “small island”. The 300 meter (984 ft) long and 150 meter (492 ft) wide island was mentioned in documents as far back as the 8th century, when it was sold to the monastery in St. Gallen.
Guests can reach the island of Lützelau in different ways:
- Comfortably by water taxi
- With their own or a rented boat
- Between June and September, from Monday to Friday with the midday shuttle and on Tuesdays and Thursdays also with the event shuttle (booking compulsory)
