Bike Tour from the Rhine Falls into the Zurich Oberland
The Rhine Falls, Europe’s mightiest waterfall, is an impressive natural spectacle. From here, the cycling route leads through tiny vineyards on southern slopes and along the River Thur, which is lined by pretty, timber-framed houses adorned with flowers.
After reaching Winterthur, the path first passes over a small hill before continuing though a flat valley to Pfäffikon. The landscape here is characterized by wide meadows and moorland, an ideal habitat for the abundant birdlife. To the south, in Rüti, the hills become larger, the ravines deeper, the forests darker, the ascents steeper and the views more impressive. The Ricken Pass has been used by pilgrims for centuries to get to Wattwil.
