Cross-Country Skiing in Rothenthurm

Located just a stone’s throw from the train station, this circular track starts off flat and then runs out into the largest high-lying moorland in Switzerland. Important: The full 20 kilometer (12.4 mile) track should only be tackled by seasoned cross-country skiers with plenty of stamina; however, it can be shortened in several well-signposted places.

Shortcuts:

• Bubrugg (7 km/4.4 mile tour)
• Bibersteg (11 km/6.8 mile tour)
• Brügelweg (15 km/9.3 mile tour )

The 3 kilometer (1.9 mile) long night trail is floodlit from Monday to Friday, between 5pm and 9pm.

Special Remarks

Once back in the village, it is well worth visiting the parish church of St. Antonius, one of the most striking places of worship in the canton of Schwyz.
