The Most Beautiful Picnic Spots in Zurich

This park is above all known to the students from Zurich University. However, it is still worth having a picnic here. The park enjoys a central location and is very beautiful.

Here, in the largest park in Zurich, the city seems very far away. Surrounded by historic villas and very old trees, it is a great place to relax. And in the museum, hungry visitors can pick up a ready-filled picnic basket (see below).

Here, visitors of all ages can picnic either in the lido area (not for those seeking peace and quiet!) or in the rather more rugged part of the island, which lies between the lido and a nudist zone.

Picnickers can enjoy a few romantic hours in the grounds of the stately Villa Patumbah. And ready-filled picnic baskets are available to pre-order at the Hammam Basar directly next door (see below).

Here, visitors can delight in a magnificent view over the entire city, the lake and – on a clear day – as far as the Swiss Alps.

A walk through the “Venice” of Zurich, Schanzengraben, leads to the Old Botanical Garden – in the heart of the city, yet still seemingly far away. For quiet hours in the middle of Zurich.

From the Lindenhof, picnickers can enjoy the best view over Zurich’s Old Town. And there is certainly plenty to see – from tourists posing for photos to locals meeting up to play pétanque or chess.

Whether on the grassy area or on the steps by the river, there is always something going on here. Picnickers have plenty to see and observe. Including the sunset.

The Irchelpark is an inviting place to relax. With ponds, BBQ sites, running tracks, and fascinating works of art in public spaces, visitors also have plenty of variety.

Located between Zurich Zoo and the top station of the Rigiblick funicular, Orelliweg is something of an insider tip. A few benches along the road invite passers-by to linger and enjoy the fabulous views over the city and lake.

Central, colorful, noisy, and fun: in the Josefwiese park, families meet bachelorette events and birthday parties. People who are not put off by this can have a great time here.

Whether the Chinawiese, Rentenwiese, or Landiwiese: around Zurich’s lake basin, everyone can find a great spot for a picnic by the water.

The Negrellisteg – a pedestrian bridge over the railway tracks – is not really suitable for a picnic. However, it is worth stopping here on the way home from your picnic to watch the sun setting over the tracks.
