Höllgrotten Baar
Located in the wildly romantic Lorenztobel you discover a hidden underground world – in which you see diverse rock formations in a variety of hues and small mystical underground lakes. Formed over thousands of years by calciferous springs, Baar’s “Höllgrotten” stalactite caves were discovered while mining for tuff stone at the end of the 19th century.
Today, this magical underground kingdom is lit by electricity, and the caves are well connected with each other by paths. The round tour through the caves with pictorial names such as "Wurzelgrotte", "Zauberschloss" or "Korallenschlucht" (root caves, magic palace and coral canyon) lasts approximately 45 minutes. As temperatures in the caves are only around 10° Celsius (50° F) year-round, we recommend you take warm clothing with you.
